4. May 23, 2010: The Cost of Local Government

We need to take Back our Local Government!

That effort needs to start at the local level.

Between 2003 and 2008 the cost of  local government rose 100%.

Unemployment in Hernando County in 2008 was 7.5%, it is now almost 15%.
  • Our local Government has spent $2 million at the South Brooksville contamination site with no resolution.
  • Our local Government sold the old Hospital for pennies instead of using it for a judicial center, now they are planning on spending millions to build a new judicial center.
  • Our local Government will blindly spend $12 million on the Elgin Blvd project.
  • Our local Government allowed the Dredge Project cost to escalate almost monthly and then let it grind to a halt.

Our local Government has been in the RED for three years, operating on our reserves and has yet to figure out how to cut the cost of Government.

We must have more Accountability in local Government. We need leadership with the qualifications and fortitude to turn around the way local government operates before it is too late!

We need to take Back our Government!

On August 24th, vote for Wayne Dukes (R)

for County Commissioner District 2!
