Wayne Dukes was born and raised in Hernando County, FL. After graduating from Hernando High in 1963, he joined the United States Air Force and served his country during the Vietnam War era. Wayne came home to Hernando County after being honorably discharged from the Air Force.
After working in Hernando County for a while, he was given the opportunity to continue to serve his country and pursued a 32 year career as a Civil Service employee for the US Air Force in Civil Engineering and Fire Services gaining extensive experience in Budgeting, Contract Management, Construction Review and Approval, Space Allocation, Infrastructure and Human Resources.
Wayne is a member of the VFW 10209 and American Legion Post 186. Feeling the importance of improving himself Wayne also holds a Bachelor of Science Degree and two Associate Degrees, all of which he earned at night while working a full time job.

Among many accomplishments and service rewards, one of the highlights of Wayne’s career was being presented the Florida Distinguished Service Award by the late Florida Governor Lawton Chiles for his leadership during the "Florida Fire Storm" in 1998.
Wayne and his wife of 24 years, Silvia, returned home to Hernando County after his retirement from his Distinguished Civil Service career.
