A compilation of great internet videos

Political Gateway (Nov 4, 2007) - I have compiled a nice group of videos from Youtube and Myspace I hope you will find interesting. Great singing performances, classic comedy, sports, movie speeches and more is what you will find here.

So sit back, relax, and enjoy the videos. You better hurry, many may be copyrighted and taken off the internet at any moment.

Where can I start? Let's go with great female vocals.

You may or may not like Jessica Simpson, but as seen in this performance of 'Take my Breath Away' on Regis and Kelly, this girl can sing. Wait for the 17 second 'note' at 1:56 and you too will be awed by her vocals.

Barbra Streisand had a hit with the song "memory' from Broadway's longest running show 'Cats.' Put a haunting melodic song and an incredible singer together and you have this gem of a video.

Singers before a ball game can cause people to get bored. At the 1990 NBA finals, this young artist made her first TV appearance and blew the crowd away. Say 'hello' to Mariah Carey America.

Harry Nilsson covered Badfinger's 'Without You' in 1971, then in 1993 Mariah Carey brings this love song back to life, An incredible live performance.

The year was 1945, the movie 'The Naughty Nineties.' This movie has the best performance of 'Who's on First' by Abbot and Costello. If you are a young viewer and have never seen this before, I am glad to introduce you to one of the greatest comedy bits ever....

Second time is a charm for this group of 4 young Swedish artists as they compete in 1974's Eurovision. They beat out Olivia Newton-John for the win. The song? Waterloo. The group? ABBA. The rest is history. World, say 'hello' to ABBA.

Jim from Taxi needs to take the Driver's license test. What does a yellow light mean? You will love it.

Sticking with comedy, the Carol Burnett show was recorded live and re-edited for syndication. Here is one of the funniest out-takes from those edits. Tim Conway decides to hold up a 'Mamas' sketch by going off about an elephant. They got back on track for a second and then he went off again. Great live moment.

Time for some sports on our list. In 1982 the most amazing finish in any sports happened. I remember being bored that day and flipped on TV, just in time to see the end of this game. November 20, 1982, UC and Stanford are 4 seconds from the end of the game. John Elway had just led his team to the lead at 20-19. Standford kicked off to UC...and here is the result....

One of the best speeches in the movies, Al Pacino at his best. Enjoy this selection from the movie, 'Scent of a Woman.'

Richard Dean Anderson played the inventive MacGyver in the 80s. In the 90s he became a member of Stargate command, his character hated techno-babble and could not rewire a light socket. Here is a little prank played on Anderson during the filming of SG-1.

In 1998 Sonny Bono died. Cher delivers a eulogy to her former husband. A sad and moving moment.

On to politics... Frank Zappa defends 'bad words' in music on crossfire in 1986. Interesting video.

One more crossfire. Forward to 2005. Jon Stewart destroys crossfire.

Not sure of the date for this video. Eric Burdon and War perform a great extended version of Spill the Wine.
