MLB: St. Louis 5, Chicago Cubs 4

ST. LOUIS, July 5 (UPI) -- Rick Ankiel's two-run single in the bottom of the ninth inning Saturday gave St. Louis a dramatic 5-4 win over the Chicago Cubs.

The right-fielder finished with three hits, one a solo homer in the sixth, giving him three RBI.

Adam Kennedy's ninth-inning, RBI double had drawn St. Louis within 4-3 against Chicago closer and losing pitcher Kerry Wood (4-2).

Ryan Ludwick had one RBI, while both Kennedy and Albert Pujols had two hits for the Cardinals, who had lost two of their previous three games.

Winner Kyle McClellan (1-3) surrendered two walks and one hit in two relief innings.

Aramis Ramirez's two-run homer put Chicago ahead 4-2 in the top of the eighth.

Ryan Theriot and Mark DeRosa drove in one run each. Derek Lee had three hits with DeRosa and Theriot both getting two hits for the Cubs, who have split their last four games.
