Pacific Science magnets recalled

WASHINGTON, July 25 (UPI) -- The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of Pacific Science magnets due to excessive lead paint.

The magnets, imported by Pacific Science Supplies Inc. of Bensenville, Ill., come in bar or "U" shapes. Some are diamond-shaped magnets made to attach to a small, yellow cone, which serves as the base.

About 40,000 of the recalled magnets were sold through education-supply distributors between April 200 and February 2008 for about $9 each.

Consumers were advised to stop using the magnets and return them to Pacific Science Supplies Inc. for a free replacement.

Consumers can also call It's Pacific Science Supplies at 800-530-1500 for more information.
